Cucumber Coconut Cream Face Mask
I’m extremely blessed to be living in Venice Beach, California for the past 4 1/2 years. I have access to some of the highest quality and nourishing local foods. One of my favorite local spots is Kippy’s Ice Cream Shop an organic coconut cream based ice cream shop. The owner Kippy is a best friend of mine and I’m not making this up when I tell you… I do eat the coconut ice cream every single day of my life and go hang out in the shop! It’s a cleansing, nourishing, and delicious saturated fat all in one. Raw saturated fats are needed for every cell and your brain to function properly.
At Kippy’s they do production of 1,000 organic mature mexican coconuts a week right there on location. Pretty awesome! When I say production, I mean they source the fresh coconuts, crack them open, drain the water, shuck the meat, and then cream the meat. The ice cream is made from the one of a kind delicious coconut cream. Coconut cream is a mighty healing food. I say blessed to be local because on Friday’s they sell pints of fresh raw coconut cream. It really doesn’t get any better or healthier. Thank you Kippy, Max, and the whole coconut cream crew for keeping us healthy!
The coconut cream is a raw product and like all raw products they don’t go bad but they do change. The coconut cream has a 4 day shelf life and then it ferments and turn into a probiotic. Sometimes I go to open my jar and it literally pushes the lid right off and jumps out about 4 inches above the jar. Now thats alive food I want to put in my body!
There are a few things you can do with this fermented coconut cream. In a perfect world we would all have no waste kitchens and not throw anything out. Don’t throw out the fermented coconut cream.
1. Fermented coconut cream is the best soap. Take it in your shower and use as your last step and you will never need lotion again.
2. Make a smoothie with your favorite fruit and raw honey.
3. Make a mask for your face with cucumber, egg, and honey.
I made this cucumber coconut cream drink last week out of my fermented coconut cream thinking I will drink this and it will be so healthy for my skin. I saved half of it in a pint jar in the fridge and today I fed my skin a different way with it. As some of you may know, I’m moving to Austin, TX this week. Last night I went to visit and say goodbye to a dear friend which lead to some tears. This morning with my swollen eye lids I applied my cucumber coconut cream drink from last week to my face and it was so creamy, refreshing, and calming! Walla! I have a new Cucumber Coconut Cream Face Mask.
