I haven’t worn deodorant in 15 years!

I swear I’m not a hippy! haha

deodorant is toxic

15 years ago it made no sense to me to shave my armpits and then rub a thick white paste over the freshly shaved, sensitive, and opened skin, and it still doesn’t.

Skin is one of our major detox organs.  It needs to breathe so it can do its job.  Disease shows up when the detox organs in our bodies become clogged.

When you learn the truth about chemicals and toxic products you just can’t put certain things on your body.   I would rather just shower and eat clean than wear deodorant. Fortunately,  I grew up in a health conscious home and my mom taught me years ago that deodorant had aluminum in it and aluminum toxicity in the body could lead to Alzheimer’s.

Deodorant covers up the smell and antiperspirants block sweat.   Read your labels as some brands mix deodorants and antiperspirants together.  Both are bad for you.  Deodorants use synthetic perfumes, artificial ingredients, have preservatives and parabens in them.   Antiperspirants clog  and close up your pores which back up toxins into your lymph nodes near breast and can contribute to breast cancer.

Why I haven’t worn deodorant in 15 years:

Aluminum –is a heavy metal found in antiperspirants that is not naturally found in the body and is linked to Alzheimer’s, brain disorders, and breast cancer.  If you apply deodorant every day for years, you could get a massive amount of  aluminum built up in your body.  I’m trying to detox heavy metals from my body, not put them in…

Parabens – this artificial preservative comes in many forms (methylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben, or butylparaben). They are known to disrupt the bodies perfect delicate hormone balance.  Parabens are able to mimic and interfere with the estrogen in your body.  Estrogen promotes the growth of breast cancer cells which is why woman are 8 times more likely to develop cancer near the under arm.  Some cosmetics company’s have now removed all parabens from their products.

Propylene glycol – is a petroleum based chemical additive which was originally developed as an antifreeze. This additive is used to soften products for easy application and prevent it from drying out. Propylene glycol in mass quantities has shown that it can cause damage to the central nervous system, liver, and heart.  It is known to provoke skin irritation.

Triclosan – the Environmental Protection Agency regulates it as a pesticide and a probable carcinogen.  Tricolsan impairs muscle function and disrupts the thyroid hormone.  It definitely absorbs into your body as it has been detected in human breast milk, blood, and  urine.  Be careful, Triclosan is also found in toothpaste, soap, anti-bacterial wash, and hair products. Triclosan Link.

Oh there’s more: TEA, DEA, Talc, FD&C colors, and Phthalates are all in deodorant. YUK!

Look for aluminum free options, but be careful as they disguise aluminum under alternative names like Potassium Alum or Ammonium Alum.
